Modeling @ Pameran Pengantin, PICC

Alin called me up yesterday saying she's having some modeling job for a Pameran Pengantin at the PICC, Putrajaya asking me if I wanna take the job. It's a no-pay job with all meals provided. I don't really care about no-pay and stuff. I just love being beautiful and wearing something beautiful with lotsa people looking and taking pictures. Gedik, kan? :) Thinking I don't have anything to do today, I decided to come. It turned out really fun and there were so many people came the the expo looking for the best price for everything regarding weddings. I wonder when can I be in their place.. searching for the grandest dais, looking at all the collections available, findings the best caterer in town. Haihh.. I wished ene could give the date soon. :(

Okay, enough with the sulking. Mari tengok gambar..

Breakfast @ Work

It's Thurday. Another day go to then it's gonna be weekend. Can't wait!

White Bread Pizza by Baya
Baya brought this to the office today. It's like the pizza bun we can get at the bakery, only she used white bread instead. Quite tasty, I should say. If only it was served hot with more toppings, I would've eaten more than five three.

Thanks for bringing us this lovely breakfast, Baya! :)

Banana Leaf Rice, Kanna Curry House

Suddenly got a pang of addiction of Banana Leaf Rice. My makan-makan buddy came today for a cuppa coffee, instead I urge him to go find Banana Leaf Rice. And.. he said yes. Oh boy.. if only I was single, I would truly fell in love with you! =D

So, off we went looking for a Banana Leaf Rice. And suddenly he remembered there was one Kanna Curry House in Puchong. Google punya google, we found it! Omg.. it was sooo near to my house. How can I not know that?

Warning: All these goes straight to the hips!

We ordered several lauks to go with the rice. There were Fried Squids, Spicy Prawn Sambal, Mutton Curry and Fried Fish Eggs. Yumminess to the limits! And can you see the white creamy thingy in the middle? That's called tairu. It's like a yoghurt to eat with the rice. It's quite sour though. Not my cuppa tea so I just left it on the side. Sorry, Tairu Boy.

Banana Leaf Rice, Sri Nirwana Maju

Was kinda bored to death and thought it will be pretty nice if I went to Subang and visit a friend after work. He's my best makan-makan buddy, I should say. If there was any 'Best Makan Buddy Award', the trophy will surely go straight to him.

So, accompanied by my lovely GPS (I'm damn bad with routes), I drove straight to Subang. Met him at I-don't-even-know where (he directed me through phone, and I followed like a blind man driving), he suggested us to go have dinner at Sri Nirwana Maju.

Sri Nirwana Maju? Sri Nirwana Maju?? Isn't that where the Banana Leaf Rice is? Omg.. omg.. I have just thought about it at the office this morning! Thank you! You've heard my prayer.

*Drool..*

With us dining together, there won't be only one lauk on the table. We ordered Udang Sambal (Spicy Prawn), Fried Fish Eggs, Mutton Curry and Fried Fish (This isn't mine). With the curry loaded rice, served with fried bitter gourd and other nice green veggies, I'm not surprising I'll be a couch potato later in the night.

From Zila's Kitchen

It's Saturday. Nothing much to do at home. ene is so tied up with god-knows-what so we decided not to go detink-detink today. Mama is at the shop. Feel like cooking today since there is nothing else I could productively produce today.

Nothing extraordinary, though. Just..

Mix veggies (french bean and cabbage)

Ayam goreng berlada
This is one of our traditional dishes in our family. Mama been cooking this since I can't really remember when. It's one of my favourite, too. So now, the recipe has been inherit by me.

So much for my very productive Saturday, huh.. =p

Bread Pudding with Chocolate Chips

Having this craze of baking suddenly today. It's working night, I know. But I just kinda having the urge to bake. Just a simple one would sufficiently do.

What to bake? A simple No-Sauce Bread Pudding. Got the recipe from the internet at the office this afternoon. There were thousands of them on the internet. So, I just closed my eye, picked one, and print.

This recipe is from allrecipes which I think can quite match to what I have at home.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices day-old bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted I used margerine
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional) I changed this to chocolate chips, leftovers from my last cake baking session. And it sure more delicious than raisins, don't you think? :p
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups milk I used 2 tablespoon of powder milk for each cup.
  • 3/4 cup white sugar Should've put in 1 cup of white sugar, though.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). I baked it in the microwave since I was to lazy to preheat the oven.
  2. Break bread into small pieces into an 8 inch square baking pan. I used my mom's Corelle porcelain bowl. Drizzle melted butter or margarine over bread. If desired, sprinkle with raisins or chocolate chips.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Beat until well mixed. Pour over bread, and lightly push down with a fork until bread is covered and soaking up the egg mixture.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top springs back when lightly tapped.
*The coloured lines indicates what I've personally done to my own version of No-Sauce Bread Pudding.
Here's what it looks like:
No-Sauce Bread Pudding with Chocolate Chips
It actually puffed up while it was baking in the oven and it was beautiful. But it deflated instantly when I took it out. Now it's flat and fugly. Was wondering if it was natural for bread pudding to deflate like that?

Yep.. It still holds the moist in the pudding :p
Despite the look, the taste was quite amazing. Only that I think I need to add in more sugar next time. Some people said, drizzle some sugar on top of the pudding should make it more delicious. And as it baked, the sugar will be toughened and crystallized and it'll make the top part of the pudding crispy. Will try this next time :)

Those Were The Days

I was browsing through my old picture albums on Facebook when I bumped into this..

From Left: Huda, Yuyu and I
This is a very old pictures of ours in the car. We were on our way to Zouk Club, KL. Wednesdays used to be my favourite night out and so are all the pretty dancing ladies out there. It was Ladies Nite, y'all.

What is left now is only memories.. Huda is now married with one cute and stubborn kid name Gazi. She's even in Hijjab now and she owns an online boutique selling Muslim fashion's clothings, Dollscarf. Do drop by at blog to check out her pretty selling items.

Yuyu now works in TM and has just bought a sassy brand new car. She's still with her long-term boyfriend, Eiji. She stopped clubbing few years back before me.

And myself.. oh well.. I've quit going to clubs at all. For good. Having my childhood dream job in an airline after jumping several jobs I hate, bought a small cute car and about to be married with the most sensible, wise, down-to-earth man I've ever known. What more could I ask for?

Nothing. As much as I know, my life is complete. Bliss.

He Finally Proposed!

I'M GETTING MARRIED !!!

I couldn't stop myself from smiling today. Finally, he proposed! Well.. it wasn't the most romantic proposal ever, but it's enough to make me smiling and feeling wobbly on the knees. I've been dreaming for this moment for as long as I can remember and finally it's here =DDD

We went for detink-detink as usual. I got home from office around 6.30pm. Washed up, dressed up. He came and pick me up and we went to the Mid Valley. After walking around for a while looking for nothing. We desisded to have dinner. It's football night, so it's kinda hard for us to find a table. Went to almost every restaurant, you name it, Tony Roma's, Chili's, Italiannies and TGI Fridays. We finally put our name on the reservation list at TGI and went for window shopping for a bit just to kill time. To our surprise, they called us after 10 minutes. That's nice =)

But the table wasn't really comfortable since it's a bar table. Oh well.. this should do. Just the place was too loud for us to talk. Luckily, we won't need to sit at the bar counter. Phew.

So.. after ordering, we talked while waiting for the food. Suddenly he said, he wanted to give me something. He reached down his pocket for god-knows-what and he put it on the table.

A small little red heart-shaped box was sitting there staring back at me!
I remembered I was silent at the moment. Taken aback of what I saw, didn't really know what to say first, I gasped and both hands on my mouth to stop from screaming accidentally. He really surprised me this time.

And then, I remembered I cried..

I know some people around us were staring. And looking. And saying/whispering something (good or bad, I have no idea) to themselves or to their partners. But, I really didn't give a damn. I didn't even look up at them. Luck on my side, I sat facing the window. Phew again.

We both didn't finish our food, not sure the food weren't delicious enough or we ourselves lost appetite because we were both so nervous. But it really felt like our first date =p

For two years I've been with ene, seeing what a non-committed person he is, I thought he will never ask my hand on marriage. But, for the love of him, I decided to stay and see what where the wind blows me. And I'm so glad, I'm still here =)

Okayy.. enough of the lovey dovey stuff. Here's our food for the dinner:

Queso Fondido
It is melted Monterrey Jack cheese, crisp beef bacon, jalapeno, roasted peppers, onions and pico de gallo creamy sauce. Served with crisp corn tortilla chips. I would say it's nice, but the tortilla is not up to my tastebuds.

Garlic Marinated Grilled Lamb Chops
Lamb chops marinated with garlic. Served with demi glace, beef bits, seasonal vegetables and cheddar cheese mashed potatoes. This is mine. Due to certain reasons, I don't find it tasty. The lamb was too dry, though. But the mashed potatoes ribboned with cheese was nice.

Sirloin Steak
Richly-marbled, 10-oz Australian chilled air flown grain-fed ribeye steak, char-grilled until it's juicy and melt-in-your-mouth tender. This is his.

Naili's Place, Ampang

Had dinner with a friend of mine today. Been cracking our head where should we go for makan-makan. Was kind of malas to go too far. But there was nothing nice nearby, though. Mamak? So bosan.

Then, she got the idea. Naili's.

Well, there were only two of us actually. But we ended up ordering 4 dishes. Gila ke tak?

Creamy Lasagna RM12.90
This is mine. I've been to Naili's a few times before. But I didn't know they have really superlicious lasagna! Oh my. It was covered with this really creamy sauce. Need to find the recipe. By the way, it's RM12.90.

Not-in-the-menu Coleslaw

We suddenly got the urge to indulge ourselves with those fatty-creamy-straight-to-the-hips food. So, we asked for this coleslaw. It's not even in the menu as usually you need to order something and this will come as the sides. But, since we already have our own dish(es), we just ordered this as ala-carte. (Didn't even know the price, bill settled by this good friend of mine =) )

LambShank
Hers. Nothing to shout about, though..

Seafood Pizza
Just plain chuck-it-in-the-microwave kinda pizza. Around RM9 kot the price. Couldn't really remember..
