Vietnam: Kampung Melayu Halal Restoran

Restoran ni owned by a Malaysian. Dato lagi uols. Cane aku bule tau? Tengok tu terpampang haa nama dia kat menu. Haha.

Mama busy tengok menu. Semua dia yang order pun. Aku makan je hakhak.

Restoran ni terletak kat Malaysian Street. Pekerjanya semua locals. Tapi yang menjaga restoran ni orang melayu dari Malaysia. Very friendly. Siap bule tanya macam-macam pasal Vietnam dengan dia. Dah macam tour guide pulak. Most of the staff pun bule paham cakap melayu. Kadang macam lupa pulak yang kitorang ni skang bukan kat Malaysia hekhek.

Cili dia ni sedap gila. Pedas tapi best.  Mungkin memang masakan diorang kat sini tawar-tawar belaka. Nasib laa dibekalkan cili kicap terulung. Makanan terus jadik sedap gila. Aku makan banyak ok. Haruslaa.. breastfeeding mother memang kena makan banyak. Entah apa-apa alasan.

Seafood Char Kuey Teow. Sedap ok. Super sedap. Portion pun banyak. Harga jangan tanya, aku lupa dah. Tapi around rm9 ler gitu satu dish.

Aku dengan mak aku kalau makan memang suka vegetarian. Takyah lauk pun takpe. Banyak sayur je. Yang bawah ni Mixed Veggie. Sedap. Mungkin jugak sebab aku tengah lapar. Entah. Tapi memang terasa laa semua rencah ratusnya.

Ni paling champion. Deep-fried mushroom with Thai sauce. Korang pernah makan cendawan goreng? Mesti laa pernah kan. Tapi cendawan goreng jenis yang ni pernah? Confirm tak pernah. Cendawan ni yang putih-putih panjang-panjang macam taugeh tu. Ada kepala cinonet kat atas. Selalu masak stir-fried oyster je. Kali ni cendawan tu digoreng. OMG rasa dia merbeles.

Hahaha.. dak gedik kena paksa kiss mummy. Nasib hang ler anak.

3rd Day @ ene's

So the Solemnization Ceremony has finally ended. Abang Wan and Falsya has safely become a newly wed. So happy for them.. I really hope my turn will come quick.

Now, the time for the reception. I don't have any pictures with me as they haven't finalized everything yet. Will update later.

So, me and Azila's job at the reception was to be the bridesmaid to the bride. Not the one who's standing beside the bride, but the one who's giving the bunga telur after the guests done their upacara merenjis.

We got up around 6.30am to get ready. Only ene's mother and little brother, Azila and I will be going this early. ene will be going with the boys, Shah and Panjang. Went for breakfast at Sri Gombak area. Had this really nice Wantan Mee with Sesame Fried Chicken. It was so tasty! It even comes with a bowl of soup. You can opt to put in dumplings in the soup or just the fried ones. And I opted for the fried ones.

After a hefty breakfast, we headed to the hall. The dais is already up. Nice and looking so grande. It was a three-panel dais. But the pillars were so big, it looks like a real place for the King. The dais was provided by Sirih Junjung and it was price at RM3,500. It's considered quite cheap for me as this kinda big dais usually are priced around RM8,000 - RM10,000 easy. Oh and they told us this is one of their new dais. They only have installed it for the second time.

They Even Made Our Dais as the Headline! =p
Nice, huh? So, after checking out the dais, I went to change for my silver baju kurung. Then I waited for ene to have our lunch together before starting our day. The food was provided by Ekhwan Services. This was the second time I had food from Ekhwan. The first one was at Abe's brother's reception. And boy, it was so delicious. The menu were:
  • Nasi Bariani Ekhwan (Basmathi A1 Pakistan)
  • Nasi Putih
  • Ayam Masak Merah
  • Daging Bariani Ekhwan
  • Dalca Sayuran
  • Acar Buah
  • Papadom
  • Minuman Kordial & Air Mineral
  • Pencuci Mulut: 2 Jenis Kuih Tradisional & Buah Orange
The Newly Wed
Guests started coming in around 11.30am. The boys were assigned to wait for the guests at the main entrance and I will be following the Bride and Groom from the lobby.

The Couple Cutting the Cake
My task took me less than half an hour. I was so relieved after my task was done. Since I had nothing else better to do, I went with the guys and chatted while waiting for my family as they promised to come. They came around 3.30pm and headed back around 4.00pm. We had another round of food at 4.30pm after all guests has gone home. I was so hungry okayy! Got to taste the wedding cake as well. =p

The Reception
All and all, the reception ended around 5.00pm. After we loaded all the presents, we headed straight back home with sore bodies.

Late in the evening, we went to Falsya's house for the opening presents ceremony. They got quite a lot of present for thier wedding. Oh boy.. such a wonderful celebration of love. I really hope that my wedding would just as nice as theirs..

2nd Day @ ene's

Today remarked the date on ene's brother's solemnization.

I think, all my life, this is the second time I watched a solemnization ceremony. I've always like solemnization ceremony. Especially when they use microphones. I like to listen to every details of the speech. =)

I wore a hot pink baju kurung today. and ene wore a soft pink baju melayu. I seldom see him in baju melayu, I felt like falling in love with him again. I didn't know, pink could really suits him.

Some of the Guests Having Their Breakfast
I woke up as early as 6.30am to get ready and to help ene's mom make drinks for the guests. We were having breakfast at home before going to the mosque. The menu are Nasi lemak, roti jala, karipaps (beef and sardines), buah melaka, pulut panggang, hot nescafe and milk tea. I spent most of my time in the kitchen, making drinks and washing dishes. There were so many people in the house, I didn't know I need to be in front or just stay in the kitchen. It was kind of an awkward moment for me. At last, I decided to stay in the kitchen trying to keep myself busy.

We headed to the mosque at 10.00am as the solemnization started at 10.30am.

Everyone is in the Mosque Waiting for the Solemnization

The Bride and Groom
ene was his brother's bestman that day. He's looking really sweet with soft pink baju melayu that day. Looking at him sitting there behind his brother, I have this weird feeling. How would it be when our time has come. The moment when I am about to officially be his. How does it really feels like?

Abang Wan and My Dearest ene

The Groom Giving The Bride Her Dowry
The most uncomfortable moment was when Abang Wan hugged her mom. She cried so hard. I tried not to look because I could feel there was a lump in my throat. I tried not to burst with tears. It was such an emotional moment..

Mother-and-Son Moment with Me at the Background

The One
After the ceremony, we went to the bride's house to have lunch and headed back home. Pity for ene, he was having exam that day. After we came back, he quickly changed to his t-shirt and jeans, get his bag and went straight to the campus.

We were so tired after that, we fell asleep. Woke up around 4.30pm to go to the hall in Institut Intergriti Malaysia, Jalan Duta for a rehearsal. Unfortunately, the dais hadn't been up. We waited till around 6.00pm then headed home for dinner and to wash up. By this time, Azila was already here. ene's mom didn't want to go home as she wanted to stay and wait for the dais. So, ene's little brother, Azila and I headed back home.

ene was waiting at home to bring us to dinner. After taking our bath, we went to Ayam Penyet AP for dinner. I had my usual dish, Gado-Gado. It was fantastic! They improvised the peanut gravy and I really love it. It was so delicious. It's like complementing my very hungry tummy. =p

Mine!

ene's. Doesn't Really Tastes Nice, He Said.

ene's Brother's Ayam Penyet

Azila's Bakso
I was so relieved to get to wash up and have dinner. After sending ene's little brother home (he needs to finish up his assignment. Poor thing), we headed back to the hall. And guess what. They still haven't arrived! So pity to ene's mother waiting for nothing. After she finished up her dinner (a tapau-ed Gado-Gado as well =p), ene suggested we go upstairs to the room provided by the management to rest and wash up. ene's mother took her bath while Azila and I resting.

ene went down to wait for the Dais to arrive. They started setting up around 12.30midnight and we decided to go home since it will only be ready in the morning.

Pheww.. what a busy day..

Beriyani Gam Johor

Meeting ene as usual after his futsal session. He was hungry. Not saying I was, but I can eat. I can always eat.. He wanted to have mutton beriyani so we went to Beriyani Gam Johor nearby my place. Read the review here.

A beriyani rice dish originating from India with a cooking method very similar to Hyderabad beriyani but with spices adjusted to suit the Malay palate. This dish is very popular in Batu Pahat District in the state of Johor.

This is one place I couldn't refrain myself from ordering. The beriyani is so good. It usually served with a small bowl of dhal, acar (shredded cucumber, pineapples and red chilli) and your choice of dish. There are a lot of dishes you can choose to go with your beriyani, Ayam Masak Merah (Chicken cooked in spicy red gravy), Ayam Goreng Berampah (Spicy Fried Chicken), Kambing Kuzi (Stewed Mutton) and as well as beef.

Beriyani with Kambing Kuzi RM16.00

As I was about to order Beriyani Kambing as what ene has ordered, I then saw something.

Nasi Ambeng RM7.00
Nasi Ambeng! OMG.. I have never known there is Nasi Ambeng here. I've been looking high and low for this. And it was really satisfying, peeps!

For those who doesn't know what a Nasi Ambang is, it consists of white rice served with a lot of other tasty dishes on the side. My dish consists of Kerabu Taugeh (raw beansprout mixed with shredded coconut and ceylon leaves), Sambal Serunding Kelapa (spicy shredded coconut), Ayam Masak Kicap (chicken cooked in thick soy sauce), Sambal Tempe (spicy fried soybean cake), Mee Goreng (fried noodles), Sambal Belacan (chili with shrimp paste) and Ikan Kering (fried salted dried fish). I really can't explain how the taste is like. It was simply gastronomic! So many taste in one plate.

Nasi Ambang or some people called it ambeng is a Javanese rice dish generally made up of spiced/fried/gravy chicken, chilli paste, serunding (Malaysian meat floss), vermicelli, tempe (Indonesian fermented soybean cake) and salted fish. It is really popular in Johor and not that common in KL. There are a lot of different ways of Nasi Ambeng is prepared. Here are some of them. Visit the pages if you need more info. Enjoy!

Mee Bandung Muar @ Azila's

Went to Azila's for makan-makan today. Ngah made this nice Mee Bandung Muar. I was expecting they cater the food from somebody else, but it turned out that they made the food by themselves. Ngah cooks? That's unbelievable. Check this out..

Mee Bandung Muar
Finally, I know their secret. The spices and flavouring were all instant. They bought it while they were in Pontian. They only put in the ingredient (prawns, squids, fishballs, crabsticks etc.) and boil them with the spices. Haha.. you guys almost got me. But it was delicious, though. So.. no complaints. =)

The Spices RM10

She gave me a packet to try at home. Not sure if I have the time, though..
